The shift to GCQ (with "heightened restrictions") reopened the tourism industry once more, including many hotels and resorts heavily affected by the pandemic's long lockdown. According to the Department of Tourism, a total of 5,986 rooms in 13 staycation hotels in Metro Manila are open for guests eager for a change of scenery, even if it only a staycation.
That said, DOT has been strict in its decision to allow these staycation hotels to operate, allowing only those that can provide guests with the safest stay possible courtesy of countless health protocols and requirements. So far, only 13 have made the cut, and it's important to note that none of the authorized staycation hotels are doubling as quarantine facilities.
If you're itching for a staycation, take note that only 13 have passed safety tests. These are the only hotels cleared for staycations in Metro Manila:
 Okada Manila Hotel
 Grand Hyatt Hotel
Shangri-la at the Fort
 Nobu Hotel
Joy Nostalg Hotel & Suites Manila
 EDSA Shangri-la Manila
 Solaire Resort
 Hyatt Regency
Nuwa Hotel of City of Dreams
 The Peninsula Manila
 Aruga by Rockwell
 Sheraton Manila Hotel
 Hilton Manila
