A Filipino has just been cast in the fifth season of the Japanese reality TV series Terrace House. 22-year-old Johnkimverlu Tupas, who works as a personal assistant, is set to make his first appearance on the 26th episode of the show, which may also be streamed on Netflix.
Viewers are given a first glimpse at Johnkimverlu in a video posted by the show's official YouTube channel, where he mentions his name and Filipino roots.
Similar to Pinoy Big Brother, Terrace House documents the lives of six strangers who are all made to live in one house together. The only difference being that they get to continue living their actual lives outside the house provided for them in Setagaya in Tokyo, Japan.
Meanwhile, locals have stirred quite the frenzy on Twitter over his classic Filipino name, with one user mentioning that his real name could actually be John Kimberly Tupas. Whether the now popular moniker is just his stage name or not, one thing's for sure, we can't wait for Johnkimverlu to give the Japanese a dose of Filipino reality.
Terrace House: Tokyo 2019-2020 will debut on Netflix this December 24, but it looks like we'll still have to wait for Johnkimverlu's first episode sometime in 2020.
