Five Filipino films will premiere on Netflix in June in celebration of Philippine Independence Day. The five films are Lola Igna, Pamilya Ordinaryo (Ordinary People), Pinoy Sunday, Sunod, and Untrue.

Notable are Lola Igna and Pamilya Ordinaryo, which are critically acclaimed films that won multiple awards. At the 2019 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, Lola Igna won Best Picture, Best Screenplay, Best Musical Score, and Best Actress.

Pamilya Ordinaryo was a nominee at the 2016 Venice Film Festival and won Best Film, Best Director, Best Editing, and Best Actress at the 2016 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.

Below are the synopses of the five films coming out on Netflix this June.

1. Lola Igna

An elderly woman’s life upturned when her family and neighbors found out she could be the oldest living woman in the world. She is thrown in a whirlwind of media frenzy and becomes a tourist attraction.

2. Ordinary People (Pamilya Ordinaryo)

A teenage couple in Manila survives by pickpocketing. Their life is upended when their one-month-old baby is kidnapped.

3. Sunod

A mother takes on a grueling job as a call center agent. She realizes the building where she works has chilling secrets that begin to make her life worse.

4. Untrue

Mara migrates to Georgia, where she meets Joachim. The two fall in love with each other, but Joachim reveals he hears strange sounds and sees visions of a strange woman.
