Famous people marrying fellow famous people is a given. As fun as that is, though, we have to say it's more interesting to see when celebrities end up tying the knot with prominent figures outside of the entertainment industry. And, it turns out, politics is where it's at.
From packed schedules to neverending travels, actors and politicians do have a lot in common. Not to mention, the two seem to intersect a lot in the Philippines. (Case in point: retired actors finding new beginnings as politicians.) Here are 12 Filipino celebrities who married politicians.

1. Maine Mendoza
Arjo Atayde may have gotten his start in show business, but he married actress and host Maine Mendoza as the Quezon City First District Representative. They tied the knot in Baguio on July 28, 2023.
2. Rachel Peters
Former beauty queen Rachel Peters married Camarines Sur 5th District Representative Migz Villafuerte in a civil wedding officiated by Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo in 2021. They then tied the knot for the second time on October 19, 2022 in Bali, Indonesia.
3. Assunta de Rossi
Assunta de Rossi married former Negros Occidental Congressman Jules Ledesma in 2004. Aside from being a politician, Ledesma is also a scion of a prominent clan.
4. Cristina Gonzalez
Acting and politics run through Cristina Gonzalez's veins through her father José Mari Gonzalez. So, it's no surprise that she ended up following in his footsteps. Her ties to politics don't stop there. In 1998, she married Tacloban City mayor Alfred Romualdez, a nephew of Imelda Marcos.
5. Dawn Zulueta
Dawn Zulueta married Antonio Lagdameo Jr., who was a three-term congressman of the 2nd District of the Davao del Norte, in 1997. The couple have two children.
6. Heart Evangelista
Heart Evangelista met Chiz Escudero, governor of Sorsogon, through Miriam Defensor Santiago. The pair married in 2015 in a much-publicized ceremony at the Balesin Island Club.
7. Korina Sanchez
Korina Sanchez married Mar Roxas, the former Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, in 2009. Nearly 10 years later, the pair announced the birth of their twin children via gestational surrogacy in the United States.
8. Niña Jose
Pinoy Big Brother contestant Niña Jose married billionaire politician Cezar Quiambao in 2017. Aside from being the mayor of Pangasinan, Quiambao also owns information technology company Stradcom Corporation.
9. Vilma Santos
"Star of All Seasons" Vilma Santos married senator Ralph Recto in 1992. The actress then entered politics herself by running for mayor of Lipa City, Batangas. Today, she serves as a House Deputy Speaker, and as a Representative of Batangas' 6th district.
10. Sharon Cuneta
Sharon Cuneta and politician Francis Pangilinan tied the knot in 1996 after dating for two years. Together, the pair have three children.
11. Dina Bonnevie
Dina Bonnevie married DV Savellano, a Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, in 2012. The two met on set during the filming of Hanggang Saan, Hanggang Kailan in 1991.
12. Alma Moreno
After her marriage to actor-turned-politician Joey Marquez, Alma Moreno married Sultan Fahad "Pre" Salic, mayor of Marawi City, in 2009. The couple have one child together, but divorced in 2014.
