The actors in All of Us Are Dead have been receiving love in spades from the public as of late thanks to their impeccably heartbreaking performances in the Netflix zombie series. While Filipinos have rightfully been caught in the hype, too, as they express their love for the shows lead stars online, a certain background actress has piqued our interest almost as much as the main cast.
Meet Noreen Joyce Esguerra, a Filipina living in Korea who’s been lucky enough to play an extra in more than 50 K-dramas. Her most recent stint? The first episode of All of Us Are Dead.

Joyce revealed her involvement in the the hit series through a post on her Instagram page. Based on the clips, we can find her in an early scene where the students of Hyosan High are rushing to get to school, and then again during class 2-5’s science lesson when Yoon Gwi-nam is bullying Eun-ji from behind.

Pinoy viewers particularly drew amusement from the former scene, pointing out how Joyce’s character is undeniably Filipino thanks to the way she carries her bag. “How to spot a Filipino…the bag is in the front,” one IG user commented.
“Common po ba sa Korea yung sa harap nakalagay yung bag? Parang Divisoria vibes po,” wrote another fan.

Joyce, of course, also received praise from impressed onlookers who couldn’t help but express their pride over finding a fellow Filipino in the widely successful Netflix series.

Joyce clarified in the same post that she didn’t get to play a zombie in the show. Nevertheless, if the additional photos on her IG page are anything to go by, it’s clear the Pinay still enjoyed her unique experience on set.

Apart from All of Us Are Dead, you can also find Joyce playing an extra in shows like Record of Youth, True Beauty, Welcome to Waikiki 2, The King: Eternal Monarch, Hi Bye Mama, and Extraordinary You, among many others.
In an exclusive interview with Preview, she shared that she's especially enjoyed working with Moon Ga Young, Kim Seon Ho, and Jo Jung Suk. “Before, I only got to see them on TV. But now, I get to see them in person and up close!"
