Local fashion industry veteran Fanny Serrano passed away last night, May 10, 2022. In a Facebook post, his daughter, Maktin Miranda, broke the news.
"It is with a heavy heart to share to everyone that my father, Felix Mariano Fausto Jr. A.K.A. Fanny Serrano has peacefully joined our creator last night, around 9pm, in Manila, at the comfort of our home. The whole family is comforted by the fact that a lot of you are celebrating his life and paying tribute on how he has touched people's lives," the post read.
Fanny, endearingly referred to as Tita Fanny by her peers, was a go-to makeup artist to actresses such as Lorna Tolentino and Amy Austria. In 2003, he launched FS Cosmetics, his very own cosmetics line, and in 2011, he opened a salon in Tomas Morato in Quezon City. In the same year, he started to showcase his very own designs at Philippine Fashion Week, furthering his career as a couturier.
Fanny has also stepped in front of the camera as an actor, appearing in episodes of drama anthology series Maalala Mo Kaya, as well as Madam Chairman, which starred his muse and longtime friend, Sharon Cuneta. Back in March 2021, the Megastar called for prayers for him, who had just suffered a stroke at the time.
In another Facebook post, Maktin pens a heartfelt message for her father. "Thank you to this man who nurtured, cared and loved me, the one I called Papa, this man who taught me the true meaning of life. Seeing everyone's love as they pay tribute to the icon is heartwarming. I am forever grateful and thankful to you my Papa. I am proud to be your daughter."
"Maulit man ang mundo, ikaw at ikaw pa din ang ipagdadasal ko na maging tatay ko. Curtains down, it's your final bow, but your legacy lives on forever. No more pain Papa, you are now in the hands of God."
Other members of the industry, such as designers Dave Ocampo and Domz Ramos also paid their respects to Fanny.
Actress and comedienne Kakai Bautista gave her thanks to the designer and stylist, writing, "Sa mundong punong puno ng pagsamba sa stereotype ng ganda, nag-iisa ka."
We send our deepest condolences to Fanny's family and friends. May he rest in peace.
