“Sunshine” Named Among Top-Ranked Films on Letterboxd for 2025
It was the sole Filipino film to make the list, ranking alongside other award-winning films from all over the world.

Antoinette Jadaone’s Sunshine continues to garner international recognition.
On Tuesday, January 13, film-centric social platform Letterboxd released its annual Year in Review. The roundup highlights the platform’s highest-rated titles across multiple categories, reflecting the viewing and rating activity of its global user base.
Among the selections, Sunshine stood out as the only Filipino entry, landing on the list alongside several critically lauded films from around the world.
“Sunshine” (2024) Is Among Letterboxd’s Top-Rated Films for 2025
Sunshine appeared across several category rankings.
The coming-of-age drama placed 5th on the “Highest Rated Narrative Film by a Female Director” list, 6th on “Highest Rated Asian Film,” 7th on “Highest Rated Drama,” and 9th on “Most Hearts to Views.”
In the overall “Highest Rated” rankings, the film secured the 17th spot.

The film first had its local theatrical run through SM Cinemas in July 2025, ahead of its Netflix debut in November 2025.
Before its Philippine release, the film screened at several international festivals. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2024, went on to receive recognition at the Berlin International Film Festival, and later screened in cities including Palm Springs, Brussels, and Taipei.
