A first for Mrs. Jauncey!

As a global fashion icon and a former beauty queen, Pia Jauncey is no stranger to serving a myriad of looks in front of the camera. Preview saw this as a challenge to present the 35-year-old in a way that hasn't been done before. "Every time we see Pia, she's normally all glammed up. Like, she's dressed to the nines, she's all dolled up. The way we wanted to approach it was to present a version of Pia that's a little bit more pared down, more laid-back, more relaxed," Preview Editor-in-Chief Marj Ramos-Clemente shares.

"The storytelling that we're going for is about breaking down one's walls," Marj explains. "And for someone like Pia, who's constantly in the public eye, that can mean a lot of things." Creative Director Bacs Arcebal visualized the notion of letting one's guard down as undone walls propped against a vast expanse. "The set is a makeshift bedroom, an intimate space shot outdoors in nature where everyone can see," she shares. "It's a way to represent how Pia stays authentic even in public. The direction is really just laid-back and relaxed."

For this, the team made the drive to Pampanga in search of natural scenes that could support the open imagery we envisioned. Aren Santos of ADSet, together with his team, mounted the panels and ensured that the lake shots were not only feasible but also safe for Pia to float on.

To make sure every photo was picture-perfect, Borgy Angeles masterfully framed each shot and enhanced the natural sunlight with artificial lighting to evoke a soft, airy, and cinematic treatment.

The story was further amplified by the cover fashion selection. "We wanted to convey a sense of peace with the outfits," Editorial Assistant for Fashion and shoot stylist Pau Singh shares. The look was built around contemporary, anti-glam, and elevated basics that were loaned from Univers One Rockwell for Simone Rocha and Cecilie Bahnsen, The Rajo Store, Novel, Ziv Rei Alexi, HA.MU, Our Paraiso, Elcru, and Munimuni Studio. These ensembles were then enhanced with lustrous sparklers from Bulgari.

Her go-to makeup artist and hairstylist duo, Justin Louise Soriano and Jeck Aguilar, were also on board in embracing a different kind of glam. They emphasized natural beauty with "no makeup makeup," brushing up Pia's brows and letting her skin's texture remain visible. Her tresses were intentionally undone, then later made wet and chicly disheveled.

Mrs. Jauncey—her first cover under her married surname—leaned into ease with bare skin, soft silhouettes, and pieces that moved with her. They say art imitates life, and this light and breezy summer cover became a beautiful diorama of what working with Pia was like. The end result was something quiet but sure, effortless but full of presence.
