Did You Know? This Hollywood Actress Appeared in a One Direction Video Before She Was Famous

One Direction is a pop culture phenomenon. Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne crossed paths on The X Factor in 2010 and went on to make history with an unprecedented level of global support.

While they are now charting their own courses as soloists, their personal stories trace back to their time as a boy band. At the onset of their journey, they would film videos to build their universe, promote tours, and give fans a glimpse of their personalities. Take the Autumn Term tour video in 2012, for instance, which featured a future Hollywood star among its cast.

You might have watched Olivia Cooke in the television series House of the Dragon or the films Ouija and Ready Player One, to name a few. But before becoming the star she is today, she appeared in One Direction’s aforementioned Autumn Term tour video, playing a fellow student who spends a fun day on campus with the boys. Her scenes include getting a piggyback ride from Harry Styles and being helped up by Louis Tomlinson after falling to the ground.

She revealed this in an interview with Variety, alongside her House of the Dragon co-star Emma D’Arcy. Olivia recalled, “My local agent in Manchester was like, ‘There’s a boy band tour music video, if you wanna do it.’” She was 17 years old at the time and was offered £250, or approximately P17,000 based on the 2012 exchange rate.

Olivia shared that she accepted the project to avoid her café shift that Saturday, and it was only revealed to her that it was going to be with One Direction when she was on the way to the shoot.

The following year, Olivia went on to star in Bates Motel, marking the beginning of her Hollywood career.
