Conversations around alleged corruption or the mishandling of funds have been widespread in the Philippines, and Bretman Rock has added to the discussion. The personal story he recently shared, however, was not directed at the government. Instead, it centered on the elementary school he attended growing up.

Bretman Rock Claims His Hefty Donation Was Almost Pocketed by the School Principal

In Season 2, Episode 24 of the podcast Da Baddest Radio, Bretman chatted with Miss Kaaaye and recalled moments in his life when his mother intervened in certain situations. One of these stories dates back to November 2025.

He appeared in an advertisement for the financial services company Remitly, where he said he “donated half a million pesos to the elementary school that I went to” in Sanchez Mira, Cagayan. The donation amounted to P555,000. In the ad, Bretman narrated his experiences to his niece, Cleo, sharing that “the main character of Bretman Rock was born” there.

“Apparently, because I sent it directly to the principal, the principal was being hush-hush and petty about it,” Bretman revealed on the podcast, noting that his cousin was a teacher at the school. According to him, teachers and treasurers were asking where the money was and questioning why they had not been informed. “They thought that he was trying to pocket the money.”

Bretman also said he received messages expressing a lack of trust in the school’s authority, with one reason being that the principal “hasn’t brought it up to [anyone in the faculty].” While he did receive a message of gratitude, Bretman said he found its content “weird.”

The 27-year-old internet personality said he let his mother handle the matter, with her demanding reports detailing how the money was used. “I need everything in writing. I need every receipt. I need to know every single penny that [Bretman] donated went to the school and not in your pockets.” He added that the situation has since been resolved.

School Principal Denies Bretman Rock’s Claims

Adelino Mahumot Pacris, the principal Bretman was referring to, released a detailed statement on the matter. “With all due respect and humility, I never had any inkling of intention to ‘pocket’ this huge amount remitted to my account,” he wrote.

Adelino recalled that the donation was offered by the former pupil’s team and that, given the large amount, he initially felt hesitant and suspicious—prompting him to consult a lawyer. To verify the offer, he said he reached out to Bretman’s relative on the faculty to ask the star’s mother whether the donation was legitimate.

“The mother answered in the negative but told her that she would ask her child. It took weeks before they confirmed that the donation was indeed true and informed us that the money had been sent to my account.”

He continued, “The money was remitted to my account, that’s true. But it is not true that I chose not to publicly disclose its existence.” He claims that they also “took the necessary steps to discuss” the projects that they will implement using the funds, and that he had turned over the entire donation to the Treasurer of the Parent Teacher Association.

He concluded by saying that he “would never do such [a] thing,” and that the agreed project had been implemented well.
