A loving father did not let his sickness get in the way of joining his daughter as she walked down the aisle.

Part of every bride's fairytale wedding is the image of her father walking her down the aisle and giving her away. The same was true for Charlotte Villarin when she tied the knot with her now-husband Maku Cordova. But in an unfortunate twist of fate, her father, who they fondly called Papu, had been ill for a while. This strong and loving patriarch, however, did not let his sickness get in the way of his daughter's important day, and he still managed to join her down the altar while on a stretcher. It was truly an emotional and unforgettable moment to behold.

Watching their wedding video, which has since gone viral with over 2,800 shares, will bring even the strongest of hearts to tears. Paradox Films, the couple's video team, recalls what happened on their Facebook post, "Charlotte booked us less than [two] months before their wedding (the original date was December) and when we found out the story behind the sudden change of the date, we were heartbroken." The team describes the wedding as "a day filled with extreme emotions."

Whose idea was it for him to still walk you down the aisle on a stretcher?

“Actually, everything happened so fast kaya naging unplanned everything. One month before we decided to have our wedding, he could still walk. So, all of us were expecting that time na makakalakad siya on our wedding day kahit palabas labas na siya sa hospital. Pero a week before our wedding dun na naging biglang worse yung condition niya and naconfine siya.

"So, plan is if di maging better condition niya, kahit naka-wheelchair na lang sya sa araw na yun. Pero, nung araw na yun.. sobrang weak na niya and he was having a lot of pain. Na mismong paglipat from stretcher to wheelchair was sobrang painful sa kanya. Kaya before mag-start ang wedding, sabi ko sakanya if gusto nya ba na sa wheelchair or sa stretcher na lang.. sabi nya stretcher na lang kasi masakit talaga.”

Prior to the wedding, were there moments where you thought you wouldn't get that opportunity?

“Yes, akala ko talaga bibigay na siya a few days before our wedding. May time na gusto ko na lang i-cancel muna ang wedding kasi ayaw ko din ma-pressure siya sa thought na kailangan niya magpalakas para dun. I thought super impossible na to have that moment. Pero nilakasan namin lahat ang loob namin since we know na super gusto nya na mai-lakad ako sa altar and kahit sobrang hirap na, tinuloy namin for him.”

How did it feel like, getting to walk down the aisle with you father?

"Sobrang mixed emotions yung paglakad namin. Yung masayang masaya ako deep inside pero the pain outweighed the joy. Yung tipong hindi yun yung pangarap o napi-picture mo na mangyayari at sobrang sakit, pero nung nakita ko na umiiyak yung father ko habang naglalakad kami because I know na sobrang saya niya din na maihatid ako sa altar, enough na yun na reason para tanggapin ko all the pain during that time and just trust the Lord kung bakit nangyari samin yun."
