Ellen's flowers were as simple and real as her.

Walking towards the love of her life at the strike of dusk, Ellen Adarna's wedding ceremony was just what we would expect from her. It was far from a traditional church wedding, and every element—from the flowers on the arch to the cobblestone aisle—reflected the bride's genuine free-spiritedness. We reached out to La Belle Fete, the organizers behind Ellen and Derek's awe-worthy celebration, and got the scoop on the preparations for the big day.

The real meanings behind Ellen Adarna's wedding flowers

"Ellen is the epitome of authenticity. She is [a] class act without trying too much," Ycoy Sitchon, Managing Director of La Belle Fete tells Preview. She goes on to say that Ellen, "[preferred] to be 'herself' on her wedding day, just wearing the most unostentatious hair, makeup, and bridal dresses."

True enough, we saw the 33-year-old actress in a sultry high-slit gown that totally reflected her audacious personality and image. Besides that, the bouquet she held as she made her way to the altar also mirrored who she was. "Ellen is one, if not the most chill brides we have ever had. She trusts us entirely with just one request: not losing her personality in the mix. We wanted to be true to her core," Ycoy explains.

"I suggested using the most delicate flower for her bouquet to match her look and personality: the lily of the valley. It is exquisite [and] regal, but [it doesn't scream] for attention," she continues, "I asked Gary Dacanay to create the most unassuming arrangement with all its leaves, [tying it] simply with a blush velvet ribbon."

The mentioned flower is one of the daintiest flora in the world, and according to Ycoy, it also is a symbol for happiness. "Ellen is such a happy soul, always calm and sincere. We see the lily of the valley in her—the best representation of a beautiful bride with her rawness and je ne sais quoi. She is who she is," she said.

Aside from her bouquet, La Belle Fete also took advantage of Ellen and Derek's scenic outdoors venue at the Rancho Bernardo Luxury Villas. Ycoy goes into detail, saying that "the couple gave [them] free rein to create the concept, and when [they] presented it to them, they trusted [them] to execute the challenging vision. Almost all structures were customized and built from scratch."

Among these structures were the floral arch and unique cobblestone aisle Ellen walked through, which were concepts headed by Randy Lazaro. "The arches perfectly framed the setting sun [which was] the perfect time for [Ellen's march as she] prefers a cooler time of the day. Instead of the usual path for the aisle, we came up with the idea of using chunks of flat slates with written lyrics of Ellen and Derek's favorite song, "Freefall" by Kate Torralba," Ycoy shares.

The reception was also just as dreamy, with the "refined rustic mountain wedding" theme being continued with the dominant use of pastels and neutrals. With the guidance of Gary Dacanay, Ycoy shares that an actual repurposed tree was placed in the middle of the tent, and "thousands of gypsophilas [served] as ceiling accents together with hanging bulbs that [created] an ethereal effect."

The entire set-up took nearly four days to perfect, but La Belle Fete persisted and managed to pull it off, with Ycoy expressing that it was their goal "to give a one-of-a-kind wedding to Derek and Ellen, a wedding they genuinely deserve."
