Good news: The list of ways you can help our country's hardworking frontliners fighting the COVID-19 pandemic without leaving the safety your home continues to grow. Now, e-commerce platforms Lazada and Zilingo are onboard! Both websites allow you to donate to Coronavirus-related causes with just a click of your cursor.
Four new advocacy partners have joined LazadaforGood, Lazada's digital giving platform, to help our fellow countrymen. The Philippine Red Cross, Kaya Natin Movement, Virlanie Foundation, Inc., and 2KK Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid join the list of existing partners like Caritas Manila and UNICEF Philippines.
Over the last few weeks, Lazada's partner agencies have raised more than P2,000,000 through the digital giving platform to support our frontliners and provide relief to people affected by the virus. Through the platform, consumers can support local communities and causes in need through direct donations where they are assured of secure online payments.
Proceeds of all donations will help supply different forms of support for these organizations. Philippine Red Cross and UNICEF donations are for medical staff supplies, including personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene kits. Donations for Caritas Manila supplies safety kits to be distributed to poor families and communities. Kaya Natin Movement supports food and personal care packages, as well as PPEs for our medical frontliners. Likewise, Virlanie Foundation and 2KK Tulong sa Kapwa Kapatid are donating food and personal care packages for street children. Red Cross will also provide support through community engagement activities like psychosocial support and access to education for out-of-school children.
Zilingo, in association with Caritas Manila, has launched a fundraising campaign called Love, Zilingo in an attempt to lend a helping hand to the healthcare workers and the disadvantaged greatly affected by the prolonged community quarantine owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As a part of the initiative, citizens can come together to assist the Filipino community at large by opting to donate relief kits worth P700 and P2000 or choosing from available donation vouchers valued at P50, P100, P500, and P1000 from zilingotrade.com or zilingoshopping.com.
Proceeds from Love, Zilingo will be donated to Caritas Manila Foundation and utilized for buying necessary provisions like instant and ready-to-make food items, water, medicines, maternal and child healthcare supplies, plus rubbing alcohol and face masks, among others. These items will be distributed to select municipalities in Metro Manila (including Quezon City, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, San Juan, Taguig, and Valenzuela).
“Despite the challenges of social distancing and limited resources during this difficult time, solidarity and the ability to work together coherently is of foremost importance now,” said Shiela Mauricio, Zilingo Head of Commercial. “And through this campaign, we are trying to utilize Zilingo’s e-commerce platform to the best of its ability to reach out and help our health workers and those who are in need.”
