Italy is not just one of the world's fashion capital, it is also widely-known for its good food. And thanks to Dolce & Gabbana joining forces with Smeg, we see the culmination of Italian pride in a colorful, bright, and vivid collection of kitchen appliances.

Their second collaboration named Sicily Is My Love was unveiled at the Milan Design Fair, Salone del Mobile di Milano, which boasted bespoke and decorative designs that D&G is known for.

Inspired by Southern Italy's deep connection with art and food, the appliances reflect these in top of the line technology. The hand-painted designs carry the soul and vision of D&G founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana interpreted in various symbols that adorn the appliances.

Domenico explains in an interview how the appliances echo their recent runway collections, “Every piece is unique, but they all tell a story consistent with our brand identity. They might be kitchen appliances, but there’s something that is immediately identifiable as Dolce & Gabbana, from the Sicilian barrows to the Trinacria symbol to the marionettes to the Italian lemons and fruits.”

The toasters, citrus juicers, coffee machines, kettles, blenders, stand mixers and slow juicers bear patterns of gold lemons, citrus fruits, prickly pears and bright red cherries that are just some of the "typical Sicilian decorations framed in triangular motifs called crocchi."

Additionally, these appliances are described to bear "delicate floral motifs inspired by the coasts and landscapes of Southern Italy and images of fascinating Mt. Etna, surrounded by ornamental friezes, picturesque ruins of the Greek temple of Castor and Pollux in the Valley of Temples, trinacrie and cartocci, a decorative motif similar to stylized acanthus leaves."

Only 100 pieces of the bespoke Smeg refrigerators (that took 240 hours each to complete) are available for purchase. Stefano shares in a statement, “These are really the perfect collector’s pieces. And even though our companies are in different sectors, there are still similarities, like a passion for creativity and innovation, attention to quality and details, and, of course, a love of Italy and Italian-made products.”

Check out below how each £30,000 (or roughly two million pesos) FAB28 Smeg refrigerators were made.

The collection will go on sale this October and, FYI, you can order them online.
