Celebrity mom Dianne Medina is beginning to lose the weight she gained during her pregnancy. She does look leaner in her latest OOTD posts on Instagram, almost a month after she gave birth to Baby Joaquin. And according to Diana, she hasn't been actively trying to lose weight and so it would seem she's been shedding off her pregnancy weight naturally.
The 33-year-old actress/host told PEP.ph in a phone interview last Thursday, October 1, 2020, "Di naman ako slim na gaya nung di pa ako nagbubuntis. Pero kahit papaano, nag-lose na ako ng kaunti. Hindi ko naman in-expect yun, nangyari lang."
Diane recalled getting so bloated that it shocked the other moms who saw her pregnancy photos in her posts. She said, "Manas na manas talaga ako so binash talaga ako sobra dun sa mga photos ko before giving birth. Siguro nagulat sila kasi pagkapanganak ko, natanggal yung tubig and nabawasan din talaga ng timbang kasi baby out na...
"When I was on my 39th week, I was already 170 lbs. After ko manganak kay Baby Joaquin, nasa 143 lbs. ako, so malaki yung nawala sa akin."
According to Dianne, mean comments were left on her Instagram posts during her pregnancy that it made her think about the effects of social media on her personal life.
She said, "Iba din yung nagagawa ng social media na parang ang daming comments na puwedeng ibato sa iyo. Parang nagkaroon ng right yung mga tao to just judge you in any way they can... And yung ibang tao, may chance na maniwala sa kanila kahit hindi naman totoo yung comment na yun."
Dianne revealed that there were many times she was bashed for her pregnancy weight gain on her Instagram account.
"Nung buntis ako, a lot of people from Instagram, from social media really bashed me [because of] how I look... Siguro yung mga harsh comments would be, hindi na ako nakilala sobrang laki, sobrang taba, ang pangit-pangit ko, ako daw pinakapangit na artistang nagbuntis. Hanapin mo pa, ang dami.
"Hindi ko naman ine-erase yung comments... Meron pa nga isa dun, galit na galit si Rodjun, 'Ang pangit mo, sana malaglag anak mo.' Mga ganun, harsh talaga. Masakit talaga. Kung iisipin mo, saan nanggagaling yung galit nila? May ginawa ba ako sa kanila? Parang you can just unfollow me and not comment."
What dismayed the actress/host even more was that the bashing came from moms like her whom she expected should know better. Dianne said, "Ang masakit pa dun, yung mga nagko-comment sa akin, if you're gonna look at their Instagram accounts, mga mommies din. Na parang aakalain mo, sila yung makakaintindi ng journey mo pero sila pa yung namba-bash sa iyo."
That said, Dianne clarifies that she has learned not to be affected by their comments, "Kasi it will just bring you down. Talagang malulungkot ka, e, kasi nga, iba na yung pregnancy journey mo na nararanasan na feeling mo tumaba ka, pumangit ka. Tapos yung hormones pa ng pagiging buntis, very emotional ka kasi kapag buntis ka, e.
"So talagang it will bring you down, so ako I try as much as possible not to read comments... Ay wala na akong pakialam, basta gusto ko healthy lang yung anak ko. Healthy and normal. I don't care how I look."
Dianne said she is also grateful for the constant encouragement of her husband, actor Rodjun Cruz.
"Ang daming moments na naapektuhan ako, but because of my husband, siya talaga nag-advice sa akin not to read. Siya talaga nagpa-feel sa akin na even though I'm like this physically, I'm still beautiful in his eyes. Talagang sobra yung support niya sa akin."
When asked for a piece of advice to pregnant moms dealing with negativity on social media, Dianne reminded, "Ang advice po sa mga buntis din, try din as much as possible not to read comments. At the end of the day, ikaw pa rin naman ang nakakakilala sa sarili mo as long as you have your family, your friends with you. You surround yourself with so much positivity and so much love from the people that [are] important to you, no matter what [the bashers'] comments are, wala na silang pakialam."
LOSING PREGNANCY WEIGHT NATURALLY
The Good Morning Pilipinas host gave birth to Baby Joaquin on September 10. After a few weeks, she shed about 37 lbs. of weight.
How did she do it?
She said it's all about eating healthy, "Ako kasi talaga ngayon, I just eat clean. Clean eating lang talaga. I eat healthy. Nung buntis kasi parang di ako nag-ingat. Lahat kinakain ko, kahit pork pa iyan or lechon, kinakain ko iyan.
"Pero nung nanganak na ako kay Joaquin, anything I eat, alam kong makakain din niya kasi nagbe-breastfeed ako. Iwas ako ngayon sa mga ma-cholesterol, yung mga meat na matataba, iyan, mga pork hindi ako kumakain."
While most moms would testify that breastfeeding has helped them lose the pregnancy weight, it makes no difference to Dianne.
She said, "Sa akin kasi hindi ko pa nakikita kasi bago pa lang ako... Hindi ko pa siya fully nafi-feel. Ako naman, to lose weight or not, as long as my baby is healthy, okay sa akin. Wala na akong pakialam kung pumangit yung katawan ko basta gusto ko healthy si Joaquin. Nung nakita ko talaga yung anak ko, parang gusto ko na mag-ingat. Parang iba, unlike nung nasa loob ko pa.
She clarifies, "Hindi naman sa walang pakialam, pero nung time na yun, iba rin talaga ang appetite ng buntis. Pero nung nakita ko na yung anak ko, I wanna be healthy for him, and I also want him to be healthy.
"Whatever I eat alam kong nakakain din niya through the milk."
