When we think of home makeovers, the first image that pops into our heads is a complete overhaul that changes almost everything about a space. It should feel like walking into a completely different house, but in a good way. But of course, that's from a non-professional perspective, because interior designers know that sometimes, you don't need dramatic changes to achieve the look you want. If you want proof, Dani Barretto and Xavi Panlilio's revamped home is the perfect example. From a space with mostly white and wooden accents, Cyndi Fernandez and Mado Beltran of Moss Design House fluffed the Panlilio's house by adding black accents and different textures—all in three days!
Take a look at the details of Dani Barretto and Xavi Panlilio's home makeover below:
Upon entering their newly-designed house, the couple barely recognized it. Dani couldn't help being emotional either, sharing that having a space like this was part of her wedding vows for Xavi. "What I promised him was I want them to look forward to coming home, and I always felt like I didn't do much pa for that to happen," she says. Before the makeover, she would continuously try to edit things but to no avail. "Now, I feel that it's a home," Dani continues.
For the living room, Dani and Xavi's L-shaped couch was switched for a smaller piece and gave it texture with a variety of pillows. Moss Design House then placed two smaller tables in place of the wide wooden coffee table, freeing up more space in the area.
Kitchen & Dining Area
To give the family's kitchen and dining area more flair, the design team broke up the all-wood look with splashes of black. They painted the wooden wishbone chairs and replaced the wooden sliding door with a chic barn door while painting the other black. Cyndi also decided to replace the red painting on the wall with a pair of black and white art print to tie the space's color scheme together!
The design team also applied a classic interior design hack to the couple's home for a more spacious feel: They added mirrors! From a plain wall, they placed three mirrors that faced the dining area, covering any unsightly reflections with a bunch of art pieces, accessories, and plants.
The Moss Design House team wrapped up the big reveal by surprising the Panlilio family with their very own memory wall! What used to be an empty white wall by their staircase now houses framed photos of the couple and their adorable daughter Millie.
