This Academy award nominated animated film is guaranteed to tug at your heartstrings. It's set in frozen, dark town, and follows a postman who befriends a reclusive toymaker who may or may not be Santa Claus.
Fred Claus (2007)
Starring: Vince Vaughn, Paul Giamatti, Elizabeth Banks
Santa Claus has an older brother named Fred who’s a bit of a mess. When Santa bails Fred out of big trouble, he brings him to the North Pole where he needs to make toys to repay his debt to his brother. To add to the issues, Santa’s entire operation is being placed under review by an efficiency expert.
The Polar Express (2004)
Starring: Tom Hanks, Leslie Zemeckis, Eddie Dezeen
This is yet another classic animated christmas film based on the timeless, enduring children's book. A young boy has his faith restored in Christmas when he embarks on a train headed to the North Pole. In his journey, he meets new friends, discovers new parts of himself, and learns life-long lessons. You’ll wish you could be taken along on this magical ride, too!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
Starring: Johnny Depp, Freddie Highmore, David Kelly
While not technically a christmas movie, it more than deserves a spot on the list. Based on Roald Dahl's classic children's novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory follows Charlie and his grandfather Joe who were lucky enough to win a contest to tour the eccentric Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. In this whimsical adventure Charlie and four other children are put to the test to reveal their true colors, after which the grand prize will be revealed.
Matilda
Starring: Mara Wilson, Danny Devito, Pam FerrisMatilda is a gifted young girl who is sadly overlooked and ignored by her parents and brothers, and bullied by her school principal. After discovering powers and with the help of her kindhearted teacher, Matilda uses her new found telekinetic abilities to stand up for herself and her friends.
