Planning a church wedding? Looking for the perfect venue can be a bit of a challenge. While there are different ways now to say “I do” (beach and garden weddings are becoming more and more popular), a good old-fashioned traditional church wedding is still top of mind for many brides-to-be. Whether it’s in a grand old cathedral or an intimate chapel, there are many choices fit for different themes—and considering we live in a predominantly Catholic country, you’ll never run out of options.
Whether you live in the south or you’re just exploring other locations for your special day, you might want to consider Parañaque. The city is just a stone’s throw away from many of Manila’s best and most luxurious hotels and event halls, so you won’t run out of options for your reception venues. Parañaque could also be a strategic choice, especially if you’re expecting relatives or friends flying in from abroad, so you can be sure that they'll make it in time for your special day coming from the airport.
If you’re ready to consider Parañaque as the location for the big day, we prepared a list of pretty churches within the city. Check them out, weigh your many options, and plan that wedding, stat!
1. Resurrection of Our Lord Parish
BF Homes dwellers won’t have to look far when it comes to exchanging vows in church. The Resurrection of Our Lord Parish is located inside the village, a quaint structure with a contemporary appearance. The interiors may be simple and understated with white checkerboard tiles on the ceiling, but the church comes to life with its stained glass windows and mural—a lovely choice for those who want an intimate affair.
Location: E. Gaches corner J. Cabarrus Streets, BF Phase 1, Paranaque City, Metro Manila
2. Our Lady of Beautiful Love Parish
Our Lady of Beautiful Love Parish is located inside Merville Park Subdivision, another charming choice for those who live inside or near the village. The interiors are bright and airy, with the whole church painted in white, and is framed by the pristine ceiling panels. Along the aisle leading to the altar is a floor decked out in marble tiles. Breaking the modern and understated look of the church are elegant chandeliers that hang from above.
Location: 80 Washington St., Merville Park Subdivision, Paranaque City, Metro Manila
3. Presentation of the Child Jesus Parish Church
Looking for a church with a less traditional design? This church inside BF Homes is popular among churchgoers within the village, and is quite known for its standout architecture—a cone-shaped ceiling that tapers just above the altar and, below it, a stained glass mural that flanks either side of the retablo. Altogether, it makes for a modern yet elegant church where couples can say a solemn “I do.”
Location: F. Cruz and Aguirre Avenue streets, Phase 3 BF Homes , Paranaque City, Metro Manila
4. National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians
Located in the Better Living Subdivision in Brgy. Don Bosco, the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians is a monumental structure, which is especially appreciated from the outside. Its exterior has a more modern facade than most parishes, with its outside dressed in concrete and white vertical louvers running down the walls. A stained glass mural hangs above its entrance, with a larger-than-life figure of Mary on the top.
Location: Better Living Subdivision, Brgy. Don Bosco , Paranaque City, Metro Manila
5. Parañaque Cathedral (The Cathedral Parish Of Saint Andrew)
One of the oldest churches in the country, the cathedral is the seat of the diocese of the Parañaque. The Parañaque Cathedral was built in 1580, and largely maintains its old style from the Spanish period. The stony facade still maintains much of its Baroque influences with the classic bell tower spire and stained glass windows. Inside is an elegant affair—it features a classically long aisle in alternating black and white, with multiple arched windows in stained glass, and the whole room in white and concrete slabs.
Location: Quirino Avenue, La Huerta, Paranaque City, Metro Manila
6. Jesus, The Divine Healer Parish
Here is another charming chapel for those who want to say their vows in a more intimate setting. Designed in a decidedly more current style than the rest, the church features multiple pointed domes as the roof in its facade, with curved walls on the outside. The entrance doors follow this shape too, as well as the glass mural that sits above. Surrounding the church is a driveway, as well as a garden of trees and bushes for that idyllic suburban setting.
Location: 12 Lily Street, Tahanan Village , Paranaque City, Metro Manila
7. St. Martin De Porres Parish Church
From the outside alone, the St. Martin de Porres Parish Church already feels welcoming, what with multiple glass panels on its doors and windows. It also doesn’t hurt that the church is surrounded by trees, lending it a serene and solemn ambiance. Inside boasts of an interior decked out in mostly white, that’s just artfully disrupted by its ceiling decorated in wooden panels for a more quaint feeling. To add to this heavenly visual, above the altar is a cross-shaped window that lets in an ethereal glow coming from the sunlight, for a truly sun-kissed and blessed wedding.
Location: 2222 Narra Street, United Hills Village (UPS I) , Paranaque City, Metro Manila
8. San Antonio de Padua Parish Church
The San Antonio de Padua Parish Church is decked out in red and white bricks on the outside with arched windows. It's a dignified yet welcoming facade. The church also boasts of pristine interiors—each portion of the ceiling features cornices that add depths to its design, with its altar framed by wooden panels and the cross surrounded in a round frame, with its bottom portion designed in stained glass featuring the images of the 12 disciples. Instead of planting fans on its columns or walls, they are hung from the ceiling enclosed in modern fixtures. The church also features a semi-open floor plan, with multiple entrances on its sides to encourage ventilation.
Location: 139 San Antonio Avenue San Antonio Valley 1 , Paranaque City, Metro Manila
