Every girl deserves a lavish celebration once they hit the big 1-8, and what else screams grandiose than an entire galaxy descending at your feet? Case in point: Kaye Sotingco's tastefully out of this world debut. Held at The Manila Hotel, Kaye kicked off her first steps into adulthood surrounded by a cosmic collection of stars and planets, one she'd always dreamed of when she was younger. "I actually asked for a modern constellation themed debut because ever since I was a kid I [have been] fascinated by the sight and the idea of stars and planets, but I wanted something more than just 'under the stars,'" Kaye tells Preview.
Events stylist Dave Sandoval turned Kate's modern celestial dreams into reality with planets hanging above and starburst light fixtures over head. Kaye also enlisted the help of Rhed Sarmiento as her coordinator.
"I told my stylist, Dave Sandoval, that I wanted something unique and different; and clearly, he delivered successfully. I also wanted a modern concept of it thus all the geometric designs hanging on the wall," Kaye reveals.
Kaye was certainly every star's envy in her silver encrusted blue ball gown crafted by designer Jo Rubio, who describes this look as a "pleated fantasy."
"For my gown, my request is to be unique and to stand out among all the other debutants. My designer, Jo Rubio, created a gown that was surely one of a kind. We made sure that his signature pleats were part of my gown," Kaye tells Preview. "I asked for the color blue-green because I haven't seen any debutant wear this color [before]. The first time I fitted the gown, it was already a perfect fit! Minor adjustments were made, [but] besides those, everything was perfect. I had to comment on Jo’s workmanship because it showed how much time and effort he spent designing and creating the gown."
