The hit K-drama was originally based on the British series Doctor Foster, and its production house BBC Studios partnered with ABS-CBN to create a Pinoy version. Together with Dreamscape Entertainment, the series will be produced by the same group behind local TV series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.” Just today, ABS-CBN names the actors who will star in the much-awaited remake, officially titled as The Broken Marriage Vow.
Below, we run down the main cast of the Philippines' "The World of Married" and where you've seen them before.
Jodi Sta. Maria as Ji Sun-woo/Dr. Gemma Foster
Jodi Sta. Maria will take on the role of the doctor and the iconic Ji Sun-woo in the Korean remake. Jodi is best known for her TV series like 100 Days to Heaven, Be Careful with My Heart, and Sino ang May Sala? but it's her role as Amor Powers in the reboot of Pangako Sa'Yo that put Jodi atop of mind when it comes to playing feisty characters. She recently starred along with Iza Calzado in Ang sa Iyo ay Akin.
Zanjoe Marudo as Lee Tae-oh/Simon Foster
Before landing the role of Ji Sun-woo's cheating husband, Zanjoe started as a Filipino model. He then pursued the limelight through the reality series Pinoy Big Brother way back in 2006. Since then, he has worked on TV series like daytime soap opera Precious Hearts Romances: Hiyas, Annaliza, and Tubig at Langis with Isabelle Daza. However, Zanjoe is not new to portraying roles from a locally adapted series. In 2009, he starred in the Pinoy remake of Lovers in Paris, alongside KC Concepcion and Piolo Pascual.
Zaijian Jaranilla as Lee Joon-young/Tom Foster
You may best remember Zaijian as the child actor who rose to fame as the meek Santino from the TV series May Bukas Pa. Since his breakout role, Zaijian booked more similar touching family-themed shows like Ikaw ay Pag-Ibig and Lorenzo's Time. He also played Liksi in fantasy series Bagani starring Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. In the Doctor Foster remake, Zaijian will play the role of Gemma and Simon Foster's only son.
Sue Ramirez as Yeo Da-kyung/Kate Parks
Lastly, Sue Ramirez rounds up the cast as she brings to life Kate Parks or Yeo Da-kyung who gets into an affair with Simon Foster/Lee Tae-oh. Sue has long been in the sidelines, with supporting roles mostly taking up her filmography when she started in showbiz back in 2011. She landed her first main role in afternoon series Hanggang Saan in 2017. Sue later starred as Capt. Lourdes Bacalso in primetime TV series A Soldier's Heart along with Gerald Anderson and Carlo Aquino.
