As an interior designer, entrepreneur, and Preview Best Dressed honoree, Maggie Wilson-Consunji has always had a knack for the finer things in life. Which is why it comes as no surprise that her home store Casa Consunji continues to venture into new heights as it celebrates its one year anniversary this month. For those unaware of the design shop tucked away in the swanky estates of Taguig, Casa Consunji holds a curated mix of furniture, décor, textiles, and sustainable items all ideal for your sophisticated dream home. “A home should be a place where you wouldn’t want to leave. It should look and feel like a resort or a hotel that you can get away to every day," Maggie says.

Having opened last October 2018, it all started with a vote of confidence and a leap of faith after Maggie's husband Victor Consunji asked her to design a few spaces for his upscale townhomes, M Residences. "I thought it was a daunting task because I had never designed spaces for other people before. I've only done it for friends," she reveals. "So in the process of designing the model units, I had to source everything. A lot of the things that I wanted, they didn't have available here in the Philippines. I had to venture out, and in the process of sourcing, I fell in love with the pieces that I saw." Her goal then was to bring these similar pieces to Manila, which led to the conception of her brick and mortar.

Boasting of modern signature pieces made from natural elements, stepping into the store alone feels like entering an indoor garden paradise. Flanked with home decor rendered in hardwoods, rattan, wicker, bamboo, leather, animal hides, marble and the like, it exudes the kind of tropical chic aesthetic that Maggie hopes for their customers to be able to bring into their own homes.

"It’s basically a space that I would consider a sanctuary. Instead of spending money to go to resorts and hotels, [invest] that in your home [and] you can create that sort of same feel in your own space. For us it’s bringing the outside in and really creating a space where you can relax and chill. We want people to walk into the store and have that sort of feeling. It’s a tropical dream, I guess," Maggies tells Preview. She also reveals that each product, sourced from countries like Indonesia, India, Norway, and the Philippines have all been handpicked personally, owing to her impeccable taste.
Aside from this, customers who make the long drive just to visit the store will be glad to know that Casa Consunji isn't just a shop. It also doubles as a cafe where visitors can unwind and relax while indulging in their healthy meals and delectable drinks.

The idea for the multipurpose space came to Maggie during a trip to Bali two years ago. "It's very special to me since I got engaged in Bali and I won the Amazing Race there. So when I went back after eight years, so much had changed. All of these little cafes, botique hotels, and lifestyle stores had popped up. I found them all to be so very beautiful and well curated and I thought, 'Why don't we have something like this Manila?'" She further muses, "That's sort of how the furniture store and the cafe came about. We wanted a store where you could shop and relax at the same time."
As Casa Consunji rounds another year, they've included a new menu of breakfast favorites, light sandwiches, and vegetarian dishes into the mix. These fresh picks come alongside their smoothie bowls and specialty coffee to make you feel right at home.
Casa Consunji is open every 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Acacia Estates Town Center in Taguig. However, if it's a long drive from your place, you can always order online instead through their newly revamped website.
