The Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada Sean Fraser announced the addition of 13 countries for its electronic travel authorization (eTA) program, starting June 7, 2023. Among the nations includes is the Philippines, which grants Philippine passport holders permission to stay in Canada for up to six months for either business or pleasure.

However, the new provision comes with a few conditions. Those eligible for the program must have held a Canadian visa in the last 10 years, or are currently holding a valid United States non-immigrant visa. Visitors who will transit to Canada other than through air travel (such as car, bus, train, and boat/cruise ship) aren’t eligible, and must secure a visitor visa instead.
Those who already hold a valid Canadian visa may still use it as usual without requiring an eTA.
