Doughnuts are the kind of treat that always gets our mouths watering. With their soft and fluffy interior and capacity to take on just about any sweet flavor profile imaginable, it's no wonder they're a popular snack-cum-dessert—especially when taken with coffee! Here's where you can get your doughnut fix when in Cebu: Brick Lane Doughnuts is a shop that has different variations of the classic pastry!
Brick Lane Doughnuts offers what they call London-style doughnuts, which owner Andre Allen Suarez describes as cream-filled and sugar-coated doughnuts that aren't very sweet. They started in April 2019, initially with a small pickup point inside a restaurant before opening their own shop in December of the same year. The goal, Suarez says, is to "take the familiar, the extraordinary, and the unique flavors of London doughnuts to the world with its ring, classic, and specialty doughnuts"—and they're doing exactly that with their wide range of flavors of the said doughnut styles.
The Ring Doughnuts (P45) are good ol' doughnuts made with their signature doughnut dough, with a hole in the middle—and with drool-worthy toppings. The Dark Chocolate Ring has a dark-chocolate frosting, while the John Lemmon is a zingy treat with a lemon glaze and chia seeds. If you're looking for a hint of crunch, you can try the Cereal Ring, which has crispy cereal bits and a chocolate drizzle.
Like your doughnuts stuffed? Go for their Classic Doughnuts (P50), which are filled with a lush cream that's made fresh every day. "The doughnuts are finished with a dusting of sugar, just enough to perfect its sweetness," says Suarez. Just some of the flavors they've got are the Classic Original Custard with a vanilla custard filling the Classic Nutella Marble with a chocolate-hazelnut cream, and the cheesy Classic Cheddar Milk.
And if you're really looking to indulge, you can try their Specialty Doughnuts (P65)—doughnuts that are filled and frosted, just in case your life motto is "go big or go home". The Strawberry Glazed & Filled has a strawberry cream and sweet strawberry glaze and is made with real strawberries, while the S'Mores will bring back memories of summer camp with its combo of roasted marshmallows, graham bits, chocolate, and a chocolate-cream filling. If you love purple yam, don't miss the Ube Glazed & Filled, which has an ube filling and ube frosting so you get purple-yam goodness from the inside out. (You can also get boxes of the doughnuts and mix and match flavors or varieties.)
"[The] flavors are inspired by things that delight and please customers," shares Suarez. "There’s a bit of nostalgia, [as is the case in] the S’mores doughnut, [which is] torched to finish, just like at the campfire. The scents and flavours of the season are also inspiration of doughnuts, like the Vanilla Chai and the Choco Peppermint, both available only during the holidays. And of course, the familiar flavours, like Dark Chocolate and Strawberry."
Brick Lane Doughnuts has a branch that's open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery at Axis Entertainment Avenue, Vibo Place in Cebu City. They also have another outpost in G. Ouano in Mandaue City only for curbside pick-up and delivery orders. You can also find them on Foodpanda if you happen to be near these areas.
