Missing the white sand beaches of Boracay? Well, you won’t have to wait any longer! In the past few months, tourist destinations all over the country—like Coron, El Nido, and Tagaytay—have been reopening their borders to visitors, and Boracay is no exception. In case you missed it, last October 1, 2020, the popular tourist destination re-opened its doors to local travelers.
Thinking of visiting this tropical paradise? Here’s everything you need to know before heading off to Boracay in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic:
Restrictions
Your kids and even your grandparents can tag along, because every person of any age with no comorbidity is welcome—given they present the required documents, of course.
Requirements
That said, all guests are required to submit a negative RT-PCR test result, extracted 72 hours prior to travel. Other mandatory requirements include a valid ID as proof of residence in an area under GCQ or MGCQ, a completion of an online health declaration form from Boracay's website (QR Code), and a hotel confirmation from a DOT-accredited accommodation establishment issued with Certificate of Authority to Operate (CAO).
On DOT's page, you will find a complete list of accredited hotels and resorts you may opt to book for your stay.
Here are some 5-star resorts that you can also choose from:

Registration
Alongside the list of requirements, you must register your visit online as well. According to DOT’s website, follow and accomplish these steps online:
1. Access Aklan's government page and click the Online Health Declaration Card button then choose Boracay in the “Where To?” page.
2. Fill out the required fields and submit. A confirmation with instructions will be displayed.
3. Save a copy of the Health Declaration Card (HDC) on your smartphone or have it printed.
4. Attach a copy of the HDC together with a copy of your RT-PCR Negative Result, confirmed flight and booking details, and your valid ID, then email it to touristboracay@gmail.com with this subject format: OHDC - Family Name, First Name (example: OHDC - Dela Cruz, Juan). Registration for multiple tourists and their documents can be sent in one email.
5. Wait for the email response within the day. If approved, a copy of your HDC and Tourist QR Code will be sent back to you. Present these to authorities in the borders for scanning.
For your own safety and for others', the given QR Code will be used to record and track your whereabouts throughout your trip. All hotels, food establishments, and water sports will have a QR scanning system.
In times like these, planning a safe trip is just as important as having a fun time, maybe even more so. Keep in my mind that COVID-19 is still on the loose, so don't forget to comply with Boracay’s safety guidelines and procedures during your trip.
