Kenneth Cobonpue is at it again. With a clientele and a list of creative partners that include aristocrats, stars, artists, and more, the designer seems to have found a new collaborator. This time, Cobonpue takes K-pop's most famous girl group Blackpink into his world, shooting them atop his signature Bloom Chair in a recent photoshoot.
In a series of social media posts, Cobonpue published photos of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa with angel wings and the Blackpink magic sitting on the piece. The Bloom Chair was a swivel chair the designer had made back in 2009. It has since went on to become one of the finest designs in his portfolio. This chair gives us a bright flower in full boom, as seen in the petal-like texture, fabric, and its sculptural form. In typical Cobonpue fashion, he made use of materials like Italian microfiber, steel, and fiberglass. That's some high art for you!
The partnership just makes sense, considering that Filipinos are one of the biggest K-pop fans in the world. Blackpink had been the first Korean group to sit atop charts like Billboard’s 100 and Britain’s Official Albums Chart Top 100. The group will be returning to Manila in March 2023 for the Born Pink World Tour, as well.

Cobonpue, on the other hand, is as all-world as it gets for a Filipino designer. He's championed Filipino craftsmanship and materials such as abaca and rattan throughout his career. His brand has also been recognized by the Japan Good Design Awards (five times, actually), French Coup de Coeur award, Design for Asia Award of Hong Kong, and more. Not to mention, his furniture lives on in the annals of Star Wars lore, too!
