Don't let the bitter taste of coffee keep you from its waking wonders. (Especially if you're a workaholic, because girl, you're gonna need it!) On our recent coffee run, we got to ask a seasoned barista which types of coffee to get and which to avoid if you're not a fan of its bitter taste. Here's what she had to say:
Avoid Dark Roast
Dark Roast sounds enchanting, doesn't it? Not if your sweet tooth can't handle a bitter contrast. Most of the flavor of this type of drink comes from the roasting process itself, resulting in a heavy bitter taste. If you're not in the mood for something strong, go for a lighter roast.
Go for Blonde
If you want the energizing power of coffee but less of the taste, baristas recommend you start off with blonde to medium roast coffee. Starbucks especially recommends their Veranda Blend Blonde Roast. "It's just like drinking juice or water, that's the sensation you'll get." Starbucks barista and certified Coffee Master Ana Mendoza explains, "It's not as heavy as dark roast, where you'll need to wash away the taste on the palette."
Get a Classic Iced Coffee
If you're more of a cold drink kind of girl, stick to iced coffee! For less bitter, more fruity-tasting iced coffee, you can especially go for a clover brew coffee poured over ice.
