Have you been binge-watching Disney+'s K-drama Moving? Apart from its intriguing plot, there are several reasons why we can't get enough of it, and one of them happens to be its stellar cast and group of characters, including the ever-lovable Bong Seok, played by up-and-coming South Korean actor Lee Jung Ha.
Bong Seok is known for his charming, occasionally naive, yet utterly endearing persona, and you'll be delighted to know that the actor portraying this beloved character shares some of his adorable traits (sans the superpowers) in real life. Curious to know more about Lee Jung Ha? We've listed 10 fun facts about him that you absolutely need to know.
1. Lee Jung Ha is a Pisces.
Born on February 23, 1998, Lee Jung Ha is a Pisces, which may explain his charming and comforting aura.
2. Lee Jung Ha's real name is Lee Kwan Min.
Like most actors, whether in Hollywood or the K-entertainment industry, they opt for a stage name to add more flair to their personality. We think his real name is just as charming, though!
3. Lee Jung Ha was a former JYP Entertainment trainee.
Before becoming an actor, Lee Jung Ha’s true dream was to become a K-pop idol. He was cast by JYP Entertainment, the same corporation that famous K-pop groups such as TWICE, Stray Kids, and ITZY are under. However, Jung Ha revealed that he felt that he didn’t have the talent to keep up with the other trainees causing him to run away, which he now admittedly regrets doing.
4. Lee Jung Ha participated in the Korean idol survival show "The Unit."
Not wanting to give up on his initial dream of becoming an idol, Lee Jung Ha decided to audition for the survival show called The Unit and ended up placing 19th among the boys. Jung Ha faced plenty of criticisms during his participation in the show, first because he was under Namoo Actors, a talent management company that mainly focused on actors and not K-pop idols, and second because some viewers felt that he lacked the skills to become an idol. He didn’t have any formal dancing or singing lessons, but his persistence to learn and be on the show, combined with his bright smile and positive energy, charmed the judges and the viewers.
5. Lee Jung Ha made his acting debut in 2017.
The same year he auditioned in The Unit, Jung Ha also pursued his acting career and debuted in the web series Heart Attack Warning.
6. Lee Jung Ha has a pet dog that has its own Instagram account.
Just when you thought you couldn’t love Jung Ha even more, we discovered that he has a pet dog named Dabong, who he’s absolutely in love with. Dabong is a poochon, a mixed breed dog between a toy poodle and a Bichon, and she’s probably one of the most adorable dogs you’ve ever seen. Jung Ha even made an entire Instagram account dedicated to Dabong (@daabonggg), and we couldn’t resist giving it a follow.
7. Lee Jung Ha had a blonde hair phase.
As much as we love Jung Ha exactly as he is now, we still couldn’t help but swoon over this picture of him with blonde hair. We imagine if Jung Ha became a K-pop idol, he would probably have blonde hair most of the time—and TBH, it suits him pretty well!
8. Lee Jung Ha likes to paint.
It’s rare for a creative to only have one hobby in life, so it’s no surprise that Jung Ha likes to paint during his spare time. He mainly does landscapes and some abstract art.
9. Lee Jung Ha had to gain weight for his role in "Moving."
Fun fact: Jung Ha had to gain 30 kilograms for his role as Bong Seok in Moving. “I was really happy to be able to eat,” he said, as translated by Koreaboo. “As I gradually gained weight, I wanted to become Bong Seok as soon as possible, and the more I gained, the more I could see him.”
Jung Ha has since cut down to his old weight. Despite being glad that he was able to bring Bong Seok’s character to life on the big screen, it also disheartened him. Because of his major transformation, many of his close friends couldn’t recognize him as Bong Seok. Whenever he would tell someone that he was Bong Seok in Moving, no one would believe him because of how different he looked with the weight.
10. Lee Jung Ha also appeared in other K-dramas prior to his breakthrough role in "Moving."
Moving is Jung Ha’s first major role, but he has already appeared on several web and television series, including Run On, Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung, and Nevertheless. So, if you want to see more of Jung Ha’s charm on the big screen, make sure to give these series a watch—we sure will.
