All hail our new queens! The Filipina beauties representing our country in the major international pageants this 2019 have officially been decided—and hopefully following in the footsteps of Catriona Gray to bring home the Miss Universe crown is Gazini Christiana Ganados, our newly-crowned Binibining Pilipinas-Universe.
The 23-year-old beauty queen from Talisay, Cebu wowed the crowd in a hot pink Cary Santiago number teamed with a sleek and straight mid-parted 'do, effectively bagging the Face of Binibini and Best in Long Gown awards.
Further impressing the panel of judges was her winning answer in the Q&A round. The Cebuana beauty answered a question from judge Bobby Barreiro: "If you win the crown tonight, what can you do to get more women in the workplace?" To which, Gazini responded, "If I win the crown tonight, what I will do is to promote my advocacy. My advocacy is for us women to fight for our rights and for the elderly care and for us to be able to know that someone is loving and someone is pushing us to whatever ambitions that we have. We will be able to rise from our decisions to whatever dreams that we have, goals that we have, and we will achieve it because of those values, those wisdoms that they gave us. Thank you."
Completing this year’s roster of Bb. Pilipinas winners are Bea Patricia Magtanong (International), Emma Mary Tiglao (Intercontinental), Samantha Ashley Lo (Grand International), Leren Mae Bautista (Globe), Resham Ramirez Saeed (Supranational), Maria Andrea Abesamis (first runner-up), and Samantha Bernardo (second runner-up).
Meanwhile, Vickie Rushton dominated the special awards category, winning Miss Cream Silk, Miss World Balance, Binibining Poten Cee Gandang Palaban, Miss Ever Bilena, Jag Denim Queen, and the Reader’s Choice Award. Additionally, Binibining Pilipinas-International Bea Patricia was named Best in Swimsuit and Binibining Megawide; Binibining Pilipinas-Intercontinental Emma Mary took home the Pitoy Moreno Best in National Costume award and Miss Pizza Hut 2019; Sherry Anne Tormes received Miss Friendship; Cassandra Chan was awarded Miss Talent; and Martina Turner Diaz was named Miss Philippine Airlines.
