It's Pride Month again and with the continuous expansion of what it means to be queer, it's important to educate one's self on the lives of queer people—whether you are queer yourself or not.

Thankfully, there are many sources of information readily available to us, one of which is television. Throughout the years, several TV shows have honestly captured and beautifully told the diverse queer stories around us.

1. Modern Family

This beloved sitcom invites viewers to see how interfamilial relationships work with one queer family in the equation. It also shows the experiences a queer couple goes through when adopting a child.
2. Heartstopper

While there's still a long way to go, it must be acknowledged that we have come so far already when it comes to queer acceptance. Much of the aforementioned is celebrated through the young romance in Heartstopper.
3. Grace and Frankie

Before it became just Queer Eye, the groundbreaking show that featured five queer experts (called The Fab Five) in fashion, food, culture, design, and grooming was called Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which premiered in 2003. It highlighted the many talents of queer people and how they can collectively make a positive impact on people.

Several queer female relationships are explored on this acclaimed show, which is now considered a classic. Aside from queer issues, the show tackles race, class, and incarceration.

It is no surprise that RuPaul's Drag Race is on this list. After all, the show celebrates drag culture through its several franchises across the globe. In addition, it captures the current queer zeitgeist while celebrating queer history and acknowledging queer heroes and allies.

No other show portrays the power of chosen families for queer people than Pose. It also celebrates the glorious ball culture scene against the gritty era of New York City. Finally, the soundtrack features songs that are woven into the queer tapestry.
8. Will & Grace

Another groundbreaking series, Will & Grace premiered in 1998 and featured the first openly gay lead character on primetime television. It's a sitcom that portrays the beautiful and hilarious friendships of women and a gay men.

Majority of the queer spectrum is represented on this show, which tackles a multitude of issues that remain relevant to this day. Queer as Folk arguably remains as the most formative queer TV series created.
10. Angels in America

A gay man living with AIDS is visited by an angel in this series, which captures the epidemic juxtaposed with the social and political climate in the 1980s. Followed by Schitt's Creek in 2020 and The Crown in 2021, Angels in America is the first series that won all four Emmy acting categories.
