The King and the Clown (2005)

Set in Korea’s Joseon Dynasty, two clowns are arrested for publicly staging a play that satirizes their King. The pair is brought to the palace and threatened with execution, and the only way they can seek pardon is if they’re able to make the king laugh. Joon Gi won Best Actor for his portrayal of one of the clowns at the 2006 Baeksang Arts Awards, effectively putting his name on the map. The movie itself brought home the Grand Prize for Film on the same night.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2016)

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter is the final installment to the Resident Evil franchise. The sci-fi action Hollywood film has Joon Gi as Commander Chu, the security chief and second-in-command to the Umbrella Corporation.

Two Weeks (2013)

Jang Tae-san is a retired gangster who’s chosen to live a solitary and peaceful life as the owner of a pawnshop. Unbeknown to Tae-san, she ends up framing him for murder after asking for help to save their cancer-stricken daughter. Now a fugitive on the loose, Tae-san must fight to prove his innocence while in a desperate race to save his daughter at the same time.

Complications further arise when she ends up getting caught between the rivalry of the royals as they fight for the title of King.

Former gangster Bong Sang Pil leaves his violent past to become a lawyer in order to bring his mother’s tragic death to justice. In doing so, he turns a group of loan sharks into a law firm and soon learns to cunningly skirt through legal loopholes to win their cases.

Hotel Del Luna (2019)

Located in downtown Seoul, the peculiar Hotel del Luna has existed for several millennia catering to lost souls. It's CEO, Jang Man Wol, is cursed to run the establishment for all of eternity as punishment for a sin she can't remember. The only way to free herself from her penance is to find someone whose committed a crime far worse than hers. Joon Gi makes a came on the series' third episode as a priest who practices exorcism. His appearance on the show also marks a reunion with his Scarlet Heart Ryeo leading lady IU.
