Make your dream wedding happen in the south!

Whether you’re already a bride-to-be or still searching for your destined groom, you’ve probably thought of walking down the aisle in a beautiful church. While there's already the option to tie the knot on the beach or at a garden, there are some of us who have always dreamt of saying “I do” in front of an altar. Of course, the most classic and traditional way to do it is in a chapel or cathedral.

A church wedding is a timeless affair, the stuff made of fairytale romances—royal families and celebrities have held their grandest ceremonies in church! It’s not surprising that many couples still opt for an old-fashioned church wedding.

If you’re looking for a venue that’s away from the hustle and bustle of the city without straying too far, consider Muntinlupa or the nearby Las Piñas City. It’s a stone’s throw away from various event halls that can host even the most lavish of parties, while maintaining that relaxed, suburban feel of the south. Not to mention, your family and friends won’t have to complain about traveling too far!

Whether you opt for a grand old cathedral, a parish designed in contemporary aesthetics, or a beautiful rustic chapel, take your pick as you plan your stylish wedding in Metro Manila. Here’s your chance to get the wedding of your dreams, without having to worry too much about the distance.

1. Saint James the Great Parish

It’s a grand church inside a posh village! What's not to love? Aside from the monumental structure, Saint James the Great Parish has been a favorite because of its favorable location within the exclusive Ayala Alabang village. The church has witnessed many high-profile weddings, including the nuptials of Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna. A palatial design from the wide courtyard in front to its stony exterior, there’s even a landscaped garden with an intricate fountain. Brides will be able to get their dream walk down the aisle!

2. Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish

Another grand structure in Muntinlupa has become a popular venue for beautiful weddings! Decked in red brick and stained glass, there is something dignified yet rustic about the Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish. Surrounded by trees and landscaped greenery, the entryway and parking spaces are even covered in bricks, adding an idyllic and old-fashioned touch in the middle of the city. The interiors are tastefully designed in white brick and matching white beams and pillars, with a towering stained glass mural lined on one of its high walls. It’s a picturesque image of modern-day suburbia!

3. Saint Peregrine Laziosi Parish

Saint Peregrine Laziosi Parish has earned somewhat of a reputation among those seeking treatment, with devotees making their own pilgrimage to the church for its healing powers. In spite of its status as a healing church, you can also have your wedding here! Surrounded with greenery and a large driveway, the church has semi-open floor plan, allowing for a bright and airy ambiance with its high ceilings and large windows. The interiors are simple and modern-inspired yet tastefully designed. Plus, they feature a long and wide aisle, perfect for your dream walk.

4. Saint Jerome Emiliani and Sta. Susana Parish

The Commerce Avenue in New Alabang Village may be a rising commercial district with a polished urban landscape, but the Saint Jerome Emiliani and Sta. Susana Parish balances out the area, giving it an old-fashioned touch. Beautifully painted in white with red roofs, the church features Rococo influences, coupled with more modern, neo-colonial imprints. Elements such as wooden beams and all-white interiors give the church an elegant rustic charm, perfect for a sophisticated, countryside-inspired wedding!

5. Notre Dame de Vie Chapel (Palazzo Verde)

Just by the outskirts of Muntinlupa and into neighboring Las Piñas is this beautiful chapel that is ideal if you’re going for a royal-inspired wedding! Palazzo Verde is an events place inspired by the exquisite glamour and luxury of the Victorian era, with a host of ceremony and event venues to choose from. Their in-house chapel, aptly named the Notre Dame de Vie Chapel, exudes luxury and sophistication. Surrounded by foliage and beautiful flowers, the windows on the wall are adorned with golden cornices, while white drapes hang from the ceiling. In case you couldn’t get enough of the royal treatment, they even have trumpet players who will announce your entry!

6. Saint Joseph Parish (Bamboo Organ Church)

There’s no denying the grandeur of the Saint Joseph Parish, also known as the Bamboo Organ Church, especially if you enjoy the idea of holding your nuptials in a historical structure. The old stone walls and the famous bamboo organ have been preserved since famous architect and national artist Francisco Mañosa restored the church back in the 1970s. Now, adding to its old magnificence are capiz chandeliers, a bamboo ceiling, balcony railings of carved wood, and potted native plants for that elegant Filipiniana touch!

7. Nature Church (Mary Immaculate Parish)

Another church designed by Francisco Mañosa, the Mary Immaculate Parish or the Nature Church was a collaboration between the famous architect and its former parish priest, Father Pierino Rogliardi. The church is completely designed with local organic materials, with its beams and pillars constructed from 50-year-old mango trees. The roofing features a thatch woven out of 40,000 anahaw leaves, with several capiz lanterns hanging from the ceiling. Tropical palms and foliage also adorn the backdrop of the altar, which is made out of coral and cacao driftwood. Tree stumps also serve as pews. It’s a stunning church for couples who love the outdoors, or are simply fans of the tropical style.
