We can still keep celebrating those special occasions, even if we’re back in lockdown.
Bambi’s Gourmet Kitchen has been a longtime favorite of Makati village residents, with Bambi Reyes Javelosa whipping up all sorts of international dishes and desserts from her family home since the 1990s.

In 2018, she transitioned to Japanese food, and recently launched her own line of bento boxes with some of her more popular dishes—some traditional, some inventive takes on Japanese cuisine.

Bambi says you can customize your own bento boxes, or you can have her surprise you. But if you want much more of a specific dish, you can always go for whole platters. Just take a look at this plate of sashimi that makes us weep with envy.

Bambi says her father has always been a Japanese food aficionado, so at the age of 4, she daydreamed about cooking for him someday. After assisting her mother cook sukiyaki for years, she was finally allowed to do it on her own at 9 years old. Not long after, she was cooking her own tempura too.

“I always dreamed of having a Japanese food takeout business, the best that could beat the restaurants in the metro,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to be on top and am always give my best.”
