Bae Suzy may be one of the brightest stars in Hallyu Land, but she also happens to be one of the most generous, too. A recent interview may have proven this sentiment, as it was revealed that the Doona! actress showered the K-drama’s staff members with a bounty of gifts–and luxurious ones, at that!

During a guest appearance at the Korean talk show Salon Drip, Bae Suzy and Doona! co-star Yang Se Jong shared anecdotes of their time filming the Netflix original drama. One of the talking points delved into Suzy’s gift-giving, which Se Jong eagerly expounded on.
While the series may have been set during summer, the real filming conditions were actually the exact opposite depicted on the show. According to the actor, the K-drama was shot during the middle of winter, right around Christmas time. Due to the chilly temperature, Suzy considered a special gift to ease the discomfort of the staff members on the job.
“There were many staff members working outside,” Se Jong explained. “On that exact [Christmas day], she gave super expensive scarves to every one of the staff members.”
The actor went on to explain that Suzy bought scarves in every color. A Korean news outlet later revealed that the scarves were sourced from the luxury fashion house Acne Studios, with each scarf priced at around 200,000 to 500,000 Korean won each–that’s approximately P8600 to P21,500 for one piece!
Aside from the luxurious items, Suzy also added a personal touch with each gift, as she also revealed that she had gift-wrapped each one of them. “I wanted to express how grateful I was, so I wanted the gifts to look like they were from Santa,” she said.
But while all of the staff members behind the scenes were blessed by Suzy, she jokingly revealed that her co-star Se Jong was skipped on the gift list. “I didn’t know how the shooting would go, so I only prepared the gift exclusively for the staff members,” she explained.
However, the host noted that Se Jong’s birthday is on December 23, just days before Christmas. A sheepish Suzy said that she, too, didn’t receive a text message from Se Jong on her own birthday. The solution? They called it even. LOL!
