Every year, Art Fair Philippines has been metro’s go-to destination for collectors to get their first dibs on art and add to their growing collection, for galleries to showcase their artists’ latest work, and for enthusiasts to come and appreciate contemporary art.
Now on its 8th year, Art Fair has only gotten bigger. There are now workshop sessions to supplement ArtFairPH/Talks, an all-new ArtFairPH/Film section where one can enter a dark room, lounge on some throw pillows and catch viewings of feature-length films, documentaries, and short animations curated by Erwin Romulo, Philbert Dy, and Teddy Co. Art Fair also welcomes ArtFairPH/Incubators, which are creative spaces that think beyond the typical gallery format and feature more immersive pieces.
Taking up four floors plus the roof deck at The Link carpark in Makati, the country’s biggest art fair can get overwhelming. It’s dotted with intricate installations and artwork that will beguile you, make you stop in your tracks, and think. As is the best approach when admiring a piece—you will take a step back and literally admire the bigger picture, take a closer look at its details, and redo the first step again to see if you’ve missed anything. If a work catches your eye, you take a photo (no flash photography!) to remember it.
If you’re planning to hit up Art Fair PH this weekend, here are a few, snap-worthy pieces that you won’t want to miss:
