The Marvel Cinematic Universe just keeps expanding, folks. Vanity Fair reports that none other than Maleficent title actress Angelina Jolie is now in talks to join the superfam!
Word is that she just might be topbilling the cast of The Eternals, Marvel's upcoming flick based on a 1976 comic. While it's not yet clear exactly what role she's going to play, have a quick summary to ease your appetite: The Eternals is about a superhuman race created by a divine group called the Celestials. And yes, in case you were wondering, they're all intertwined: the villainous Thanos is an Eternal, and Ego from Guardians of the Galaxy (aka Star-Lord's father) is a Celestial. The Eternals' purpose is to protect Earth from a dark group called the Deviants.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, indie director Chloe Zhao’s adaptation may or may not also tell “the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans.” Spicy. Whatever the case, we're expecting a ton of excitement: Angelina is, after all, a seasoned and versatile action star with the likes of Salt and the entire Tomb Raider franchise under her belt.
