Angel Locsin is always ready to personally extend a helping hand to people in need.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the actress, together with her fiancé Neil Arce and wedding coordinator La Belle Fete, have set up air-conditioned sleeping tents for health workers in Taguig City.
On Friday, March 20, Angel asked her followers and industry friends on Instagram if they have any spare foldable bed or bedding that they could donate. She wrote, "[We] understand that life is hard right now, so we’ll refrain from asking you for financial donations. Instead, we would like to ask you for stuff that you already have.
"We, with the assistance and recommendation of the local government, are setting up sleeping tents within hospital premises for our health workers in the frontlines so they don’t have to worry about where to stay & transportation."
Angelica Panganiban, Anne Curtis-Heussaff, Paulo Avelino, and Bea Alonzo are some of Angel's industry friends who have donated their taping beds.
The project turned out to be a success! Take a peek inside the mobile sleeping quarters:
To practice strict social distancing, only five people are allowed to stay in each tent.
Last December 2019, Angel, who has actively been helping out during times of crisis, was hailed as one of Forbes Asia's 'Heroes of Philanthropy', which honors individuals "committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific."
