Even after putting her red and gold costume to rest, Angel Locsin proves she's still a modern-day hero like her iconic role, Darna.

This year, the actress is lending her influential power to the presidential campaign of Vice President Leni Robredo. Last March 20, Angel was present at the Leni-Kiko PasigLaban rally, which historically drew almost 140,000 attendees.

"Mama Leni, sa'yo na ang bato," Angel's placard read, referencing how Darna gains her powers by swallowing a white stone. Most of her Instagram followers were delighted with her witty sign, pouring down pink heart emojis in her comments section. Her fellow Kakampink and show biz sister Bianca Gonzalez commented that she's, "Our real life Darna."

However, one netizen seemed to have disagreed with Bianca's claim as they took jabs at Angel's figure and that she was allegedly covering it up with the sign.

Angel tells Preview that the same user also red-tagged her in a now-deleted comment, which prompted her response. "Ano hong gusto mong sabihin bukod pa sa malaki ang problema mo sa katawan ko, pero mas problema naman ang face at ugali mo? Paki sabi sa friend mo na ituloy niya para maka-pag file ako ng case please," she wrote, tagging actor Ahron Villena.

Some of Angel's avid fans defended her as well, and the actress advised one of them to let the indicent commenter be. "Hayaan mo s'yang magsalita at may resibo ng unethical behavior," she said, punctuating things with a smiley face.

There have been prior instances where Angel has had to confront people about her body image. In 2019, she sat down with talk show host Boy Abunda and reiterated, "Kasi ako, wala akong problema. Katawan ko 'to, ako 'to, sarili ko 'to."

She followed this up two years later, when she made an empowering post on Instagram with the caption, "Remember to love every inch of you." She advised her followers that, "You are more than your weight or how you look. What's important is how you feel and think of yourself."

Aside from that, this isn't the first time Angel has had to deal with reckless red-tagging either. "By being vocal about my opinions and advocacies, I have always been attacked," she wrote in an Instagram post in October 2020

In the same post, she also voiced out support for fellow celebrities, Liza Soberano and Catriona Gray, who were red-tagged as well. "Sa ilalim ng Consitution, pareho tayong mayroong karapatan sa ating mga sariling paniniwala. Kung magkaiba tayo, hindi ibig sabihin pwede mo na ako i-red tag. Hindi tayo magkakalaban dito. Hindi rin ako 'red'. Magkaiba lang tayo ng paniniwala," she says.
