In a motorcade and noise barrage protest against ABS-CBN's recent franchise denial that culminated at the Kapamilya headquarters in Quezon City earlier this evening, July 18, actress Angel Locsin made headlines as she expressed her grievances and personal sentiments on the matter. Multiple videos surfaced on social media showing the actress standing on a platform while speaking up against the recent unfolding of events, highlighting the part where she called out fellow actors and actresses who have chosen to keep mum about the issue.
To quote the actress—based on videos posted by reporter MJ Felipe and user @menchongdee on Twitter, as well as @stephy_ness on Instagram—here’s what she had to say:
“At mga kapwa kong artista na hindi nagsasalita, tatahimik pa ba kayo? Wala na kayong network! Kahit magpa-cute kayo sa Instagram, kahit mag-selfie kayo ng sad face. Hindi niyo nadadamayan ang mga katrabaho niyo na dahilan kung bakit kayo sumikat! Huwag kayong matakot! Wala na kayong proprotektahan na career or image! Nandito na tayo sa panahon na kailangan niyo magsalita!”
Apart from Angel, other Kapamilya stars such as Kathryn Bernardo, Daniel Padilla, Julia Barretto, and Liza Soberano were also spotted at the noise barrage, as well as sisters Toni and Alex Gonzaga, Kylie Versoza, Jake Cuenca, and Agot Isidro. Meanwhile, Bianca Gonzalez also joined the motorcade and took to Twitter to express her support for Angel.
Shortly after, Angel Locsin became a trending topic on Twitter with the netizens mostly expressing their admiration for the real-life Darna who's not afraid to speak up on current issues.
