This year’s GMA Gala Night witnessed several head-turners who became the talk of the internet, but one actress in attendance, Alice Dixson, received the ire of netizens due to the color of her chosen dress.
To celebrate GMA network’s 72nd anniversary, the 53-year-old star showed up at the event in a custom canary yellow gown designed by Kim Gan. The internet was quick to point out the event’s “black and white” dress code, questioning the actress for swathing herself in a bright summery hue. Now, in a recent Instagram post, Alice responded to the criticisms, some of which had even labeled her a “gatecrasher.”
“For me (and I also looked it up ha!) ang isang Formal Black and White event is simply that, a formal event,” she wrote in the post’s caption, which she accompanied with screen recordings of her invitation and research.
“Nowhere on any of my invitations that I received (attached) did it say you could only wear black and white!”
Alice then wrote that no matter her chosen dress of the night, she was able to carry out what she came to do: “1) give thanks, 2) mingle and meet my colleagues and the bosses, 3) and have fun.”
“Kayo mga bashers, anong nagawa nyo???” she capped off the post. “Pls lang huwag nmn kasi kayo masyado judgmental.”
Let it be heard: Dress codes aren’t worth intense levels of hatred. You looked amazing, Alice!
