Filipina tennis star Alex Eala continues to rack up milestones on the global stage, competing deeper into some of the sport’s biggest tournaments.
At the 2026 edition of the Indian Wells Open, one of the biggest stops on the tennis calendar outside the Grand Slams, the 20-year-old reached the Round of 16 in singles and also competed in the women’s doubles draw. The tournament, often dubbed the “fifth Grand Slam” because of its prestige and stacked field, offers substantial prize purses across every round—meaning even a mid-tournament finish can translate into a sizeable payout.
By the end of her Indian Wells campaign, Alex walked away with earnings in both singles and doubles. Here’s a breakdown of how much the Filipina tennis star took home from the California tournament.
The Prize Money at the Indian Wells Open
According to the WTA, reaching the Round of 16 in the singles draw earned Alex $105,720, which is approximately P6.28 million.
Her campaign concluded after a straight-sets loss to Czech player Linda Noskova, who won 6–2, 6–0. Linda quickly asserted control of the match with a 3–1 start before closing it out in just 56 minutes.

Even so, Alex’s performance marked another solid result in a string of strong outings on tour. According to Inquirer.net, she has now reached the Round of 16 in three consecutive WTA 1000 tournaments, a sign of her growing consistency against the sport’s top players.
Her path there included a notable moment when world No. 4 Coco Gauff retired from their match due to a left arm injury while Alex was leading 6–2, 2–0, sending the Filipina through to the next round.

Alex also competed in the women’s doubles draw alongside American partner Iva Jovic. The pair exited in the Round of 32, where the total prize for the team was $19,510—about P1.15 million. If split evenly between partners, Alex’s share would come to $9,755, which is approximately P579,929.
Alex and Iva were defeated 6–2, 6–2 by the wild card tandem of Jelena Ostapenko and Hailey Baptiste.
Combining her singles winnings with her estimated doubles share, Alex likely earned around $115,475 or approximately P6.8 million, from the tournament.
After her Indian Wells run, Alex is set to head to the Miami Open. The tournament holds special significance for the Filipina player, as it was there last year that she delivered a breakthrough performance with a semifinal run, which put her firmly on the radar in the women’s tour.
