In the midst of The Glory's worldwide success, Ahn Gil Ho has sparked controversy after he admitted to the physical assault allegations against him.

Prior to the Netflix K-drama's part two release, the director was mentioned in various posts and was accused of school bullying. The victim shared that they found out about Gil Ho and The Glory through a group chat with their former classmates and further discussed what happened.

In 1996 when the director was studying in the Philippines as a third-year high school student, he—along with 10 other people—reportedly "threatened and assaulted" them after they teased his girlfriend. The incident allegedly happened for almost two hours.

"To be honest, if Ahn Gil Ho is living well, I don't care to make an issue out of that. However, I've come to reveal this as it's absurd and unforgivable for a school bully to direct a program like The Glory that is meant to raise awareness about school violence," the victim wrote. Following the claims, Gil Ho denied the assertions and said that he can't remember hitting anyone.

Two days after his denial, the director, through the law firm JIPYONG, confessed that the physical assault reports are true and that "he momentarily got emotional and gave another person an unforgettable wound." Gil Ho also apologized to the people involved in the incident.

The Glory tells the story of Moon Dong Eun, a woman driven by revenge after she spent her youth in trauma because of her schoolmates who bullied her. You can watch part one and part two of the series on Netflix.
