British songstress Adele shocked the internet today with her Instagram post thanking her followers for their well wishes for her birthday, which featured her slim, post-weight loss figure. In the photo, Adele, who just turned 32, wears a black mini dress with billowy puff sleeves and a high neckline. She completed the simple yet sophisticated look with matching black pumps.
TV personality Chrissy Teigen couldn't help but express her astonishment by commenting, "I mean are you kidding me," while YouTuber James Charles said, "YOU LOOK AMAZING." Fashion folk Riccardo Tisci and Virgil Abloh also greeted the Skyfall singer a happy birthday.
This isn’t the first time we are given a glimpse of her dramatic transformation though. Adele first revealed her post-weight loss body in October 2019, but she hasn’t posted anything “official” on her own Instagram account until now. She was later on seen in a string of events after that, like the Oscars after-party last February where insiders thought "she looked like herself but also so different—beautiful but almost unrecognizable,” reports People.
According to The Daily Mail, Adele’s dramatic weight loss is reportedly credited to a 1000-calorie per day diet and Pilates exercise. It is also said that Adele had undergone The Sirtfood Diet, a plant-based diet that includes eating kale and buckwheat, among others. The Sun also reports that Adele’s trainer, Pilates instructor Camila Goodis, says that her transformation boils down to “a healthy balanced diet, eating less calories a day and expending more energy.”
“I don’t believe she liked exercise much but she has changed her lifestyle and I believe that 90 percent was dieting,” she says of working with Adele.
Adele has reportedly lost 100 pounds, according to People. Her weight loss follows her split from husband Simon Konecki in April 2019. She filed for divorce from him in September 2019. According to The Daily Mail, Adele started the healthy diet for the sake of her seven-year-old son Angelo.
