Over the last couple of years, more and more tourists and locals have found themselves wandering through its neon-lit streets in search of momentary bliss. And given its new nickname “Willamsburgos,” what once was an infamous area for its “extra services” has now become a melting pot of flavors with more restaurants and bars sprouting from its tight corners.
With this area becoming a personal favourite of ours, we share with you some of our go-to hangout spots whenever we feel like taking things slow for the night.

A spicy dinner: Señor Pollo
5767 Ebro Street, Poblacion, Makati City
This Latin American chicken street joint is one of the red light district’s famous hole-in-the-wall hotspots. Discreetly tucked behind the bustling bars of Burgos Street, everyone from yuppies working in nearby high-risers to travelers lodging in neighboring hostels stop by this quaint space to grab some good grub.

A street-side hangout: Tamabi Yakirori Snackhouse
5779 Felipe Street, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City
Chill by the streets and sample some skewers while loading up on beer at this humble snack bar where everybody is welcome to hang out. We suggest you try their soft shell crab paired with an ice cold bottle of Kettle Brew to get you started for an evening of chill drinking.

A chill place to party: Z Hostel
5660 Don Pedro Street, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City
The chilliest roof deck with the view, Z Hostel is where you ought to head to if you’re looking for interesting conversations with backpackers and passers-by. Whether it’s packed to the ledges or with just a few people hanging out, you’ll always find someone to talk to here at Z.

A sweet ending: Scout’s Honor at Hole in The Wall
Century City Mall, Kalayaan Avenue, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City
If you feel like ending the night just a tad bit early, go on a midnight snack run at Scout’s Honor and whip up a DIY cookie or two paired with an ice-cold mug of horchata.
SB Tip: Make your own craft cookie and mix red velvet cookie dough with Horlicks topped with cream cheese, white chocolate, and almonds. Trust us when we say that it’s the right mix of sweet, sour, and salty.

BONUS: Ringside Bar
4853 Kalayaan, corner P. Burgos Street, Barangay Poblacion, Makati City
If you’re really looking for a fun night out, we suggest you catch the wrestling matches over at Ringside. We promise, it’s a lot less sketchy than you might think it is. In fact, the likes of burlesque dancer Dita Von Teese and photographers Perou and Face Hunter have already visited and have had a drink or two here.
