More and more idols have been making their K-drama debut by venturing into another part of the entertainment industry. This year, here are some of the most anticipated idol-filled titles to watch for
1. Vincenzo
Release date: February 20, 2021
Vincenzo follows an Italy-based lawyer and mafia advisor who flies back to Korea after encountering conflict within his group. The drama's cast includes Song Joong Ki, Jeon Yeo Bin, and Ok Taecyeon from 2PM.
2. Dear.M
Release date: February 26, 2021
Dear.M is a spinoff of the web series Love Playlist and centers around the search for an unknown personality called M after anonymous post was made on the school's online community. It follows the lives of six Seoyeon University students, played by Park Hye Soo, Jeong Jaehyun from the K-pop group NCT, Noh Jung Ui, Bae Hyun Sung, Lee Jin Hyuk from K-pop boy band UP10TION, and Woo Davi. This marks the acting debut of NCT member Jaehyun.
3. Summer Guys
Release date: March 2021
This upcoming drama follows the lives of a group of bartenders running a casual cocktail house by the beach, and stars CNBLUE's Lee Jung Shin, former I.O.I and Gugudan member Kang Mina, former I.O.I and Pristin member Lim Nayoung, and former JBJ member Kwon Hyunbin, also known as VIINI. It's even reported that the cast underwent bartending training for their roles in the drama!
4. Deluxe Taxi
Release date: April 2021
Deluxe Taxi is a drama based on the webtoon of the same name. According to a report, it follows a mystical taxi service that seeks revenge for victims who weren't able to attain justice from the law. The drama stars Lee Je Hoon, Kim Eui Sung, Esom, and Lee Naeun from girl group APRIL.
5. Mouse
Release date: first half of 2021
Mouse is a mystery drama starring Lee Seung Gi, Lee Hee Joon, Park Ju Hyun, Kyung Soo Jin, Ahn Jae Wook, and Block B's P.O. The drama is said to take place in a world wherein psychopaths can be identified even before birth using a DNA test on a fetus.
6. Imitation
Release date: early 2021
Imitation is an upcoming drama headlined mostly by K-pop idols, and rightfully so, because the drama focuses on the lives of K-pop idols in the industry. The cast includes Yunho, Seonghwa, Jongho, and San from ATEEZ, Chani and Hwiyoung from SF9, Lee Jun Young from U-KISS, Jiyeon from T-ARA, Lim Nayoung formerly of I.O.I and Pristin, and Danny Ahn of g.o.d.
7. Snowdrop
Release date: 2021
Snowdrop follows a male university student who ended up hiding in the school's dormitory for females. The drama is headlined by Jung Hae In, BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Jang Seung Jo, Kim Hye Yoon, and Yoon Se Ah. Previously, Jisoo made a brief appearance in the K-drama Arthdal Chronicles, but Snowdrop marks her first lead role in a drama
