Cooking is like singing.

“You can sing someone else’s song and make it your own. In the same way, you can take someone else’s recipe and make it your own.”

Wise words from Asia’s one and only songbird, Regine Velasquez. By now, you might have heard that the Poor Señorita actress has recently launched her first ever cookbook, Bongga sa Kusina: Recipes from Sarap Diva. It’s about time, ever since she started her own cooking show, Sarap Diva.

As fast as the wind drove us to the nearest bookstore, we took a hold of a copy to swoon over the pages as we scanned through. We mean, really, who doesn’t like food? So here, we listed down five of the exciting things you should look forward to upon devouring Regine’s latest accomplishment.

1. The delicious and practical recipes

Yes, yes, we’re already aware that it’s the main course of any cookbook, but these cooking instructions come straight from Mrs. Alcasid herself. It varies for different dishes and you could expect that she sprinkled in some twists on her own version. Our current favorite: Regine’s meat loaf!

2. Ogie Alcasid’s heartwarming message

The songwriter has once again proven himself to be utterly good with words. His foreword in this book will make you tear up and wish you also had a singer slash composer for a husband. Perhaps it’s true that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!

3. Snippets of Regine’s kitchen

Don’t even get us started with this cookbook’s visual temptations, because then we will have to start drooling again over those pictures. Aside from the amazing food shots, you can also look forward to the book showing how bongga Regine’s kitchen actually is.
