Would you believe that Jason Magbanua was once a videography teacher in the province? Don’t worry, neither could we. Allergic to the rigid organizational structure of the academe (although Jason admits that he loves teaching), he quickly left that career behind to pursue something more fluid and free. The trailblazer in the stylized wedding documentation genre, Jason is now considered as one of the most iconic directors in the industry. This month, as he takes on Preview’s 25 Questions, he shares with us his uncanny opinions on weddings, life and love.
CINDERELLA OR SLEEPING BEAUTY?
Cinderella. I have no patience to be with a person who is sleeping all the time.
WHAT IS IT YOU LOVE ABOUT YOUR LIFE?
My time is mine. When you get to be as old as me, the most precious commodity you can have, really, is time.
Superman, no doubt. It’s big blue for me! I don’t care if he wears his briefs outside his jeans. I don’t need a superhero that’s complex or gritty or dark.
NAME YOUR FAVORITE PINOY MOMENT.
During my 36th birthday, in Rico J. Puno’s bar, he suddenly went up to the microphone, and sang “El Bimbo” off the bat.
WHAT WOULD YOU GIVE UP FOR WORLD PEACE?
World peace is overrated.
Why not weddings? It’s such a positive environment to work in! The people are in love, you have free food, you go to posh places, everybody loves you, and you love everybody. It’s so non- toxic! It’s very light.
