With lipstick, every skin tone has its own perfect nude, red, and dark hues. It's only a matter of color-matching yourself according to your undertones, which is something we all learn and develop a feel for the deeper we delve into makeup. But given the wide spectrum of skin tones, we've always thought a universal nude lipstick just couldn't exist. What could exist, though, is a shade everyone loves and just can't help trying on.

Proof: Recent data from virtual makeup testing app YouCam reveals that—you guessed it—millennial pink is the most preferred lipstick shade globally. They reported that 20% of lipstick try-ons from the US and UK, both incredibly diverse countries, are said to be in this trendy color. Even data from China and Japan points to it as a favorite with 15%, although the app did say that these countries generally prefer classic reds more.

But can the shade suit dusky-skinned Filipinas? Definitely! Millennial pink can be wearable for medium skin given the right tones.

"I always follow this guideline: the deeper your skintone is, the deeper your lipstick should be," says Maybelline Philippines senior makeup artist Chuchie Ledesma. This means you should probably stay away from white-based pinks like what Nicki Minaj used to wear if you don't want to look washed out. Rose tones and muted pinks that are one shade lighter than your skin at most should work for a modern pink pout!
