Despite being known for her luminous skin, Yassi Pressman also had her own battle with pimples when she was in her teens. She tells PEP.ph that it occurred at a crucial time when she was starting her career and feeling the pressure to always look their best.
"Siyempre, especially when you come into an industry where a lot of people are expecting you to be perfect, there is a very, very strong weight of pressure trying to become that Barbie doll that everyone expects you to be," she shares.
In a separate interview with PEP.ph last August, Yassi admitted her acne problems took a toll on her self-esteem. She told the website, "Malalim yung past ko dahil sa skin problems. I had to leave work, kailangan 'di ka mako-close-up-an. Alam mo 'yun ganung bagay that really affects your confidence and you as a person as well."
Yassi initially relied on makeup to cover the blemishes, but she also made sure to start taking care of herself not just from the outside. "There's makeup, but I also had to find everything to take care of myself from within," she said. "After that, to go out and be more confident, I wear makeup."
The actress religiously did what her dermatologist recommend to treat her acne. She also developed a skincare routine that works for her skin type and tried to get as much sleep as possible.
"I also drink a lot of water. Siyempre wash your face, use your moisturizer," Yassi added. From time to time, she also tries new products that help with treating acne breakouts."Now, I discovered a new one. It's called Himalaya [Herbals] Purifying Neem. I found it and it cleared up most of my skin," she revealed.
The product Yassi mentioned is actually an anti-acne line with products that contains neem, a plant known to have antibacterial properties and is said to help control acne. The range includes facial washes, a face scrub, clay mask, and more.
