A plagiarism controversy is slowly stealing the spotlight away from the release of Kylie Cosmetics' highly anticipated holiday collection, and you won't believe how strong the case is.
Last Sunday, Los Angeles-based makeup artist Vlada Haggerty posted a side-by-side comparison of the new Kylie Cosmetics campaign and a beauty editorial of hers that she posted a month ago. Both photos feature a model wearing a red lip and covering her eyes with gold-stained fingers.
The similarities are definitely striking, and the span of time between the release of the two photos doesn't help Kylie's case. And to make things fishier, Vlada also claimed in her post that this isn't the first time that the brand took 'inspiration' from her work. Kylie Cosmetics apparently posted one of Vlada's work on their Instagram without credit last year, and even the brand's logo looks wildly similar to the makeup artist's signature lip drip work.
Kylie has yet to speak up about this issue. Meanwhile, fans and non-fans alike are already expressing their disappointment in the comments, while many are still attributing it to plain coincidence. What do you think?
