Tasmanian artist Sonia Singh grew up playing with second-hand dolls and home-made toys. For her, giving discarded dolls a simplified new look is an ordinary hobby that didn’t merit a lot of attention, especially since her underlying purpose was only about giving "some old toys a new lease on life [and] a down-to-earth, natural-looking style." Little did she know that the photos of her barefaced dolls would go viral and that a powerful movement would soon follow suit.
After their heavy makeup is removed, their bombshell hair is de-vamped, and their sexy wardrobe is given a refreshing change (her mom knits them new clothes!), Sonia’s secondhand dolls now look like the real girls that little kids are supposed to play with.
